Dear Neighbor:
As Congress prepares to pass quality, affordable health care for all, I invite you to share your questions, ideas, and suggestions with me. As your Member of Congress, I want to know what you think. This is your opportunity to express your opinions about the current health care system or share a heath care story with me. Click here to visit “Linda’s Online Health Care Forum.”
Right now, America spends nearly twice as much more per person on health care than any other country – and all that spending isn’t making us any healthier. It makes no sense to place such a tremendous burden on working families and our fiscal future. It’s time to act to get our economy back on track and help every American family afford comprehensive, high quality care.
As a member of the Ways and Means Committee, which is developing health care legislation, I am working to implement plans that will benefit working families. Health care costs burden U.S. businesses and families, and are a leading cause of bankruptcy. Our new plan would protect what works in our health care system and reform what doesn’t, encouraging competition to lower costs and increase choice.
It would also make Medicare, the plan that covers all American seniors, more efficient by rewarding doctors who improve health outcomes instead of those who simply provide lots of procedures that do not make their patients any healthier. The savings achieved will be used to expand and improve the Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit.
COST, CHOICE, STABILITY, QUALITY
I support President Obama’s efforts and will work to reduce your costs, offer you the choice of doctors and plans, and guarantee affordable, quality health care for all.
- COST LESS AND COVER MORE: Through competition and choice, we will make coverage more affordable for everyone—guaranteeing fairness and competition in the marketplace, simplifying paperwork for patients and doctors, saving lives and money with electronic medical records, and cracking down on waste, fraud, and abuse. Focusing on primary care, prevention and wellness is the first step.
- YOUR CHOICE: IF YOU HAVE IT AND YOU LIKE IT, YOU KEEP IT: The freedom to choose what works best for you and your family—if you like your doctor, keep your doctor. If you like your current plan, keep your current plan. If you don’t like your current insurance plan, or you don’t have one, you’ll have more than one affordable option to choose from.
- STABILITY AND PEACE OF MIND: Your health needs will be covered by insurance and your coverage can never be taken away. You won’t be denied insurance based on your gender or a pre-existing condition, and you won’t have to go without coverage if your employer drops your insurance, you change jobs, or become unemployed.
- QUALITY PATIENT-CENTERED CARE: We must have a system driven by patients’ needs, not corporate profits, one that empowers you and your doctor to make informed health care decisions that meet your specific needs.
Click here to share your health care story with me. I look forward to hearing from you! Thank you for the opportunity to represent you in Congress.
Sincerely,

Linda T. Sánchez
Member of Congress
